Builder One helps you plan and assemble a PC. We keep what we collect small and honest. This page describes what actually happens to data when you use the site — nothing more, nothing less. If our practices change, we update this page first.
No accounts, no personal information
Builder One has no sign-up and no accounts. We don't ask you to create one, and we don't collect personal information like your name or email address to use the site.
Anonymous usage analytics
We record a small set of anonymous usage events — for example, that an intake was completed or that a set of parts was confirmed — so we can see how the guided flow is working. These events carry a random, device-generated identifier that is not linked to your name, email, or any account, and they never include anything you type into free-text fields. That same anonymous identifier is also used to rate-limit requests, which keeps the site healthy. Events are stored in our own database.
Questions you ask the pro
Builder One has an optional "ask the pro" feature. When you use it, the question you type is sent to a third-party provider (Anthropic) to generate the answer, and is processed by our algorithms to keep the reply focused on your build. This is the one place your typed words leave Builder One. We do not store the text of your question.
Hosting and server logs
Builder One runs on Vercel and Cloudflare. As with any website, their servers keep standard technical logs — such as IP addresses and basic request details — as part of normal operation and security. That information is handled under those providers' own policies.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage to remember your build progress on your device — the step you're on, the parts you've confirmed, and the companion you picked — so you can pick up where you left off. A small functional cookie holds the same anonymous device identifier described above. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other sites.
Links to retailers
When you tap a buy link, you leave Builder One for a retailer's own website (such as Amazon or Newegg). What happens there is governed by that retailer's privacy policy, not ours.
